Our Story

It started with a feeling most mothers know but rarely talk about.

The quiet scan of the room before you feed. The mental calculation, is there somewhere private? Will people stare? Can I do this here?

Vin felt it for the first time in a café in the UK, a few weeks after Tao was born. Not shame. Not embarrassment. Something harder to name, a sense of being completely visible and completely invisible at the same time.

She felt it again in Hong Kong. In Abu Dhabi. In China. In her own living room. In a hospital waiting room. In the back seat of a car.

It didn't go away with practice. It didn't go away with confidence. It just became something she managed, like so many mothers do, quietly, without anyone noticing.

We looked for a solution. We couldn't find one we loved.

Every nursing cover on the market felt like an afterthought. Clinical designs. Cheap fabrics. Things that looked like they belonged in a hospital bag, not a life.

Vin didn't want to hide. She wanted privacy on her own terms, something that felt as considered as the rest of her life. Something she'd actually want to carry into a restaurant or onto a plane.

It didn't exist. So we started designing it.

Who we are 

Navaya is built by two people with very different perspectives on the same experience.

Vin is the reason this brand exists. She spent over a decade leading social media and PR at brands like Specsavers and Center Parcs, building audiences, shaping brand voice, understanding what makes people trust a company. When she became a mother, she brought that same strategic thinking to a problem she'd lived through personally. She designs the product. She shapes the brand. She's the voice you'll hear most on our Instagram.

Parm is the other half of the story. The one who watched Vin navigate breastfeeding across countries and cultures, and learned, sometimes the hard way, what support actually looks like from the other side. He runs the operations, the logistics, and the parts of the business that happen behind the scenes. He's also the dad voice you don't hear enough of in this space.

Tao is three. He was there for all of it. He doesn't know he's the reason any of this exists, but he is.

What we believe

We believe mothers deserve products that are designed with the same care they put into everything else.

We believe privacy is a choice, not a compromise. You shouldn't have to choose between feeding your baby and feeling comfortable in your own skin.

We believe the best brands are built by people who've actually lived the problem, not people who've researched it from the outside.

And we believe that breastfeeding isn't just a mother's experience. It's a family experience. That's why Navaya is built by one.

What's next

The Navaya breastfeeding cover is our first product. It's the one we needed most, so it's the one we built first.
